If you’re coasting, you’re either losing momentum or else you’re headed downhill.
(Joan Welsh)
This Ramadan and to be honest every Ramadan I intend to read a section (Juz) of the Qur’an each day. There are 30 sections in the Qur’an, so by reading a section day, I would complete the reading of one Qur’an a month.
Whilst I intend to do this every year, a missed day here or there ends up me being lucky to get past 5 sections in the whole month. Previously I have excused myself because of atending the taraweeh prayer, but this year I have categorically intended to my absolute best. So far with the grace of Allah, I have managed to stick to the programme and where I know i’ll be coming home late from work, I have managed some reading at lunch time after the Dhur prayer, continue reading on my iPhone on the train if necessary and conclude the little left of the section at home.
So far, I have managed to plan in advance and manage the reading accordingly. For those who know me, they would know that planning in advance is not something that comes naturally to me. So incorporating a little time management and planning into my life through the reading of the Qur’an is just one benefit of this exercise. I pray that this year I am able to stick to it for the whole month and will do everything I can to make it happen.
